Programs and Projects To Sponsor and Support

The Workshops

Currently, Score's workshop program consists of a spring, summer and fall Entrepreneur Success series. Score takes a "How to approach" with each workshop and provides a great deal of interaction with attendees. The workshop series run from 8:30am to 3pm on Saturdays, 6pm to 9pm mid-week, and are presented by Score Members who have the expertise in that particular topic. Power Points and workbooks were all written and developed by our chapter. The workshops provided are:

  • How to Start, Grow and Succeed In a Small Business
  • Marketing Planning and Sales Strategy (Marketing plan workbook provided)
  • Financial Planning and Cash Management (A financial planning workbook provided)
  • Building a Better Business Plan, A How To Approach ( A business planning workbook is provided)
  • Growing, Managing and Operating your Business
  • Internet Marketing (Website design, optimatization and traffic building techniques ).
  • How to Do Business With the Government
  • How to Start, Manage and Market a Consulting Business
  • How to Buy and Sell a Business
  • Survival Seminar (2 hour presentation and panel discussion)
  • Other workshops in development: Sales Forecasting an Marketing in Tough Economic Times; Cash Flow Management Techniques; Networking techniques that work; How to build a competitive-edge and brand; Action plan workshops for marketing and website traffic

Other ways to Provide Support

  • Sponsor or provide workshop Location, preferably on Saturdays
  • One-time Donation to help defray Score's operational costs
  • Sponsor mixers and fund raising events
  • Sponsor Score's brochure and workshop materials and handouts
  • SCORE Ventura Chapter is seeking a permanent home office in Camarillo or Thousand Oaks area, preferably with conference room availability
  • Sponsor an individual(s) within the community to attend a workshop series, SCORE's new Business Scholarship Program (for more details on this program, contact Michael Scotto, Chairman at 805-204-6022)
  • In-kind services that can include; workshop room/location; meeting room; office space; website additions, maintenance; advertising; printing; to name a few

SCORE of Ventura County and Malibu provides free, one on one, confidential counseling and mentoring to all start-up and existing businesses and low cost workshops throughout the year. In 2009, we counseled over 600 entrepreneurs face to face and hundreds have attended our workshop series.

Our all volunteer, non-profit organization, established in 1971 is self funded and only though the generosity of sponsors and our low cost workshops are we able to continue to serve our business community; help insure small business success and employment.
