Surviving the recession is topic of church program in Ventura
A program on negotiating with landlords and creditors and surviving the recession will be held Sunday afternoon at Solid Rock Christian Center in Ventura.
The event is open to the public and is aimed at people worried about losing their houses or being buried by debt. Financial experts will be available, and there will be a question-and-answer session with counselors from the Ventura County chapter of SCORE, a group that offers counseling and mentoring to existing and planned businesses.
There will be discussions on marketing and on using Web sites to generate income.
The Rev. Lonnie McCowan, pastor of the evangelical church, said the event is aimed at helping people adjust to new economic realities.
“There has to be a paradigm shift in how we do economics, the way we approach our creditors, the way we hire services, the way we purchase things,” he said. “Everyone has to be a negotiator.”
The program begins at 4 p.m. at 5105 Walker St., Ventura. For information, call 644-7722.
